Frontier has setup an indoor ballistic testing facility capable of conducting V50 and ballistic energy absorption of armor materials at ambient, high and extreme low temperatures in accordance with MIL-STD-662F and NIJ-101.6. The facility can also conduct functional and casualty tests and cook-off tests for various types of small arms ammunitions with the capability to measure the projectile velocity and chamber pressures.

Frontier's current ballistic testing capability has the following weapon systems:

  • .22 Caliber 22” barrel 1:16 twist rim fire (900 - 4,000 fps)

  • .22 caliber air gun (500 - 1,800 fps)

  • 5.56mm (.223 caliber) 14” barrel 1:12 twist center fire rifle

  • 7.62mm (.306 caliber) 22” barrel center fire rifle
  • 9mm handgun

Frontier's current ballistic testing using the following projectiles:

  • 7.62mm M80 Ball and M2 AP Projectiles
  • 5.56mm M855 Ball Projectile
  • 9mm FMJ Ball Projectile
  • .22 cal, 17 grain FSP (MIL-STD-662F)
  • .22 cal 22 grain APSP (Frontier's design to simulate armor piercing round)
